Accession is not the same as entry into force
HCCH states that Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026, with entry into force on 28 February 2027. At the 19 October 2026 check date, accession alone therefore does not justify replacing required legalization with an apostille. For future use, verify operation between the specific countries, any objections and whether the document type is covered.
Start with the recipient’s requirements
Ask whether the recipient needs an original, certified copy or extract, which language and what certification sequence. From 10 February 2026, Thai Consular Affairs requires valid translator identification for legalization of Thai–English and English–Thai translations. This is not a complete checklist for every language pair. Check names, seals, attachments and page completeness, keeping originals with the final certified version.
Next steps
- Obtain the intended recipient’s written requirements.
- Check the current procedure between the two countries.
- Agree the translator, language and certification sequence.
- Check every page and retain the final set.
