The accommodation provider’s duty

The official TM.30 manual explains the host, householder, landlord or hotel manager’s duty to notify local Immigration within 24 hours of a foreign guest’s arrival. Before paying rent, establish who will file and provide the receipt. Listing an address in TDAC and signing a lease do not themselves prove TM.30 submission.

Keep a verifiable record

Confirm the exact property address and provide only the passport details needed for reporting. Request the exported record or receipt matching your details and check-in date. Returning to the same property and moving elsewhere may have different repeat-reporting conditions: verify these with the local office. Do not impersonate the owner or use a fictitious address to obtain another document.

Next steps

  1. Agree TM.30 responsibility before paying rent.
  2. Provide accurate address and passport details.
  3. Obtain a receipt with the correct check-in date.
  4. Check the reporting requirement when you move.
