Choose the legal registration route
A ceremony, a wedding organiser’s contract and civil registration are different events. For Thai registration, obtain the registry’s checklist for both nationalities and confirm the accepted marital-status evidence. Thai consular guidance distinguishes documents issued in the home country from those issued by a foreign mission in Thailand; the translation and certification chain can differ.
Prepare for later use of the certificate
After registration, check names, dates and the record number, obtain the necessary extracts and ask the future recipient about document acceptance. Russian MFA guidance recognises foreign civil-status records subject to legalization or an applicable treaty exception. Do not duplicate registration without clarifying the legal route. Marriage itself is separate from visas, extensions and work permission.
Next steps
- Identify the registry and both spouses’ nationalities.
- Confirm marital-status evidence and certification.
- Check personal details before final documents are issued.
- Plan document recognition and immigration status separately.
