The verified document change
The Department of Consular Affairs announcement of 28 August 2026 replaces the current-location document with proof of permanent residence and adds criminal record clearance from 31 August 2026. Its English infographic preserves the previous requirements for applications already submitted before that date. The announcement is national; ask the receiving mission which documents and certifications it accepts.
Build a consistent application file
Keep the category, employment or portfolio evidence, finances and actual stay plan consistent. A paid “visa guarantee” cannot replace an official record. Ask the mission about certificate age, countries covered and translation language. The infographic alone does not establish these details, so no universal certificate-validity period is stated here.
Next steps
- Check the actual application submission date.
- Get the receiving mission’s current checklist.
- Confirm the accepted residence proof and criminal record format.
- Check translations, dates and consistency.
