Plan the sequence before the birth

Ask the hospital and local registrar how foreign parents obtain the medical evidence and civil birth registration. Agree the child’s name and passport-consistent parental details in advance; errors can carry into translations and consular documents. A Thai birth certificate alone does not determine nationality, passport entitlement or the child’s immigration record.

Consular procedure and later travel

For Russian documents, identify the competent consular office and request the checklist matching the parents’ nationality and family situation. If a Thai authority already registered the birth, confirm acceptance, translation and legalization of that foreign record rather than assuming a second certificate will be issued. Before booking travel, check nationality determination, passport issuance and Thai departure requirements for the child. Parent deadlines remain separate.

Next steps

  1. Confirm birth documents with the hospital and registrar.
  2. Check names and parents’ passport details.
  3. Get the current nationality-specific consular checklist.
  4. Arrange travel documents before non-refundable tickets.
