A visa does not guarantee an account
Banks apply identification and source-of-funds checks under anti-money-laundering requirements. The checklist varies by product, status and risk assessment. Ask the selected branch about your nationality and stay basis: passport, address, account purpose, employment and tax information may need evidence. Do not send a major transfer before confirming the account is open and can receive that transaction.
Check more than the account number
Check currency, fees, incoming transfers, limits, mobile access and how to update a phone number or passport. A non-resident foreign-currency account, for example, is a separate product from an ordinary baht account. Retain a clear funding trail. Do not rent someone else’s account or give an intermediary control of yours; this risks suspension and involvement in unrelated transactions.
